Well my last class was tonight, and I was so lucky to do my class from my sons field in Cooperstown!!! One of the parents had a verizon card so I could do my class and cheer for my son!! THis is what online is all about. This made up for all the late nights I did this semester.

So Tim is wonderful. He has been so patient working with me to get my portfolio readable. I loved Dr. Tomer's example and I followed it exaclty and hopefully now my project is readable.

My son has done great this week in Cooperstown. He is batting 650 but unfortunatley his team is 1-5. Oh well they are having fun and this place is amazing. It is such a wonderful place and so clean....it is like Disneyland for Baseball.

I will keep you updated with my portfolio and my son's Cooperstown progress.

Thank Heavens for Tim

Well Tim has been very patient with me with my final projects. He has tried so many things and now I just renamed my folders so I hope he can now access my files.

Cooperstown Dream Fields is wonderful. It is like a Disneyland for Baseball...My son has played pretty well...hitting about 350. He has played a lot of 2nd base and loves it!!! What a wonderful experience for all of us. I am so proud of him. I am so blessed because my parents and my in laws are here with us. Well the count down is on........

Good Luck everyone.

Well I just finished the final project. I think I did it right. Hopefully we will have a DIMDIM session. We leave for Cooperstown on Friday with my 13 yr. son, who is really excited!!! I am trying to get most of my work done, just incase I don't have internet. They say the house has wireless but after my week in Pitt and the trouble I had with my hotels internet. So I really want everything to be handed in if I can possibly handle it. I get to go pick my daughter up tomorrow from field hockey camp. This was her first away camp and I think it went really well. Well of to start my paper for 2000.

Well it is Friday and in about an hour I will start the rest of my FT weekend. 3 presentations so I am a little stressed. So thankful for the computer lab in the Information and Library Science building. My internet went out out the hotel where I was staying yesterday morning...that is a very stressful thing when you are an online student. I wasn't aware of how much time I spend on the computer working or just checking in. I am on my way down to see if someone can help me pronounce the names of the Indian tribes that we are presenting on this afternoon. I am excited for the tour tomorrow and really ready to go home...I miss my family terribly!!!!!! I hope it doesn't rain!!

Fast Track Week 1/2 over

What a great few days. I learned so much and now have a better understanding of so many things. I wish I could have had some of the info when I started but it is good to have it now. I am so glad the I met so many nice people and hope that some of us will be friends and stay in touch!!Well now on to phase 2 Fri and Sat. I have 3 group projects that I am working on and will be glad when they are over. It will be nice to see some of the friends that I met last March. I was so thankful to sit with Dr. Tomer at dinner and have a much better understanding of the project. Tim was so helpful and posted how to do the second part, CSS. It was easy after that! I was lucky enough to go and visit my 90 yr old great Aunt that lives in Butler Pa. She was so glad to see my mom and I. Oh, yes my Mom came to see me so I wouldn't be alone for these 2 days til school starts again on Friday. I am really looking forward to spending some time with her.

Thanks agian for a great 4 days!!!!

I can't believe we come to campus in 5 days. I am buried right now with group projects!! Started my project today by setting up my web page. I chose to do it through Google and it was really easy. Tomorrow I am going to work on the rest of the project. I feel a little lost right now but hopefully once I start it will get easier.

Vacation and forgot to blog

I forgot to blog this week. We were on vacation and I was working on 5 group projects as well as reading 5 books....did I say vacation??? Well I was lucky that I could go and still be online for classes and get my work done. Well the Swine flu has hit all of my family except me. My son was the worst but better now and my husband and 2 daughters had a fever for 2 days and now have a bad cold. They keep teasing me that it is going to hit when I have to leave for Pitt next sunday. I am keeping my fingers crossed and taking a lot of vitamins. Sorry to have missed a few days and I will post a couple more this week!!!

It was very helpful that Dr. Tomer placed a tutorial, in the 2600 site, of how to do our Koha project. I am just having a problem cause I can't see any of my postes except the first one....so I don't want to go any farther in case I am doing something wrong. Hopefully I will hear something soon. Vacation is nice and the weather is beautiful. It is working out pretty well that I am working early in the morning and at night to get everything done!!!

What a crazy week. I am glad my computer finally let me type in eprints. I realize now that I should have restarted and maybe the problem would have been fixed.

We I feel very fortunate. I am on vacation with my sister and her family, my mom and dad, my brother and his two kids and my husband and 3 kids!! I am so blessed with a big family and I llove that my classes are online. They were very flexible with the house we rented so I could get wireless and still get my work done.

We are in Deep Creek Lake in western Maryland. I will let everyone know about our adventures this week!!

I posted last that my son had the swine flu. Thanks to Tamiflu and large amounts of steroids he is doing much better. My daughter although just came down and said she didn't feel well. Lets hope she is just tired.

Well I was happy to finish the ePrints project this am. I reported that I had to cut and paste everything and then about midnight last night it wouldn't even let me do that and I had only 2 download left. So I shut down my laptop and went to bed. Got up at 6 to finish and it was like I was using a different program . It allowed me to type and do everything I couldn't last night. I guess I need to learn next to re start my computer and start over.

Leaving on vacation tomorrow...yes the house has wireless so I can continue to work!!!!
Viewed the schedule for our week in Pittsburgh! Monday the 13th is my Birthday!

Swine Flu in the house

Working hard with ePrints and so glad to see Tim's directions. Hoping to finish it today. My 12 year old son was diagnosed with the Swine Flu yesterday. He feels horrible. He is an Asthmatic so they are watching him closely as am I. I have bleached everything and have him in his room. The round the clock Neb's are killing. He was eligible for Tamiflu since he is Asthmatic. I guess they are not giving it to everyone cause they are worried about running out. I am very worried about him and trying to get my work for this week and next done since I am in the house for awhile and hoping I won't get it..... Time will tell!!

Hi everyone,

Well this was cooool!! I recorded how to download the firefox extensions to Zotero and recorded it with Jing. Screencast captured it and I wondered how I would find my presentation. I wnet to help and Jing and it explained where the link was...almost in a private memory on my computer. It explained that all I had to do was decided where I wanted to paste the link and open the document and right click and paste and here it is!!!!!

Well just finished with our DimDim chat. It is pretty cool. I was frustrated at first that I could not access the chat due to Safari. I have also had problems submitting papers for 2000 and had to use another computer. Well I just took Safari off and went back to IE and the Chat worked and I was able to submit my post and response for the week. So I am much happier. I know a lot of people hate the sun that is on their computer from Jing but I love it...it makes me happy when I see it. This is my last week of work and then I hope the 4 classes I am taking will be a little easier to manage!!!

I just realized that I am down a post this week and not sure why so I am posting again tonight and will do better next week. Trying to finish my paper for 2000 that is due tonight and I am almost done...hoping to submit after my 2 chats. I found it interesting to hear that Safarie and Firefox were better with Blackboard cause ever since I downloaded them their has been problems but maybe it is a coincidence.

Kristi

Accounts set up!

Glad to hear that the problems are fixed concerning our 2 classes..it is funny cause I haven't had any trouble with the other 2 classes that I have been taking. Set up my eprints and koha accounts. Nervous to get back my grades for the first 2 projects. Busy weekend with 4 baseball games and my daughters Confirmation but lots of fun. I am getting ready for chat that will now be on blackboard the I have chat for my Information Literacy class at 9.

Well project three has posted a few problems and I feel that I am still not right about what I have saved. Once I imported into google it still is in a straight line just like in excel. I am going to continue to watch the technical post to see if more info is given before I post. I extremely busy with 4 classes but will be finished with work in 2 weeks so it should get easier.

Logged into Dimdim last night and thought it was wonderful. Tegan was able to speak and that was great. I am going to work on understanding my webcam and microphone this week. I might also buy a head set to make it easier. I was appreciative of the explaination of next weeks project and happy to hear that the 1st assignment looked great. Sam was such a help in assisting me with finding an article for my other class. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

What a weekend. It was beautiful and I got a lot of work done. I searched the digital library for about 1 hour or so trying to find an article for LIS 2000. I found many other interesting thing during my travels through PittCat and the Digital Library but not the article. After posting a question a very nice student named Sam gave me the information I need to search and the light bulb went on. I love that we are part of a cohort and that everyone is so helpful!!!

Assignment #2

I am excited that I figured out Scopus, RefWorks, and Google Scholar. I have learned so much this week and am rally excited about all the features that are offered with in each of these programs. Now I am working on the RSS feeds and am a little confused. I am creating a RSS feed from each of my different search I did in Scopus, but I am not sure if that is right. I think I am going to attend on of the chats and ask questions about it so that I am not wrong. Good luck to everyone that is working on this project!!!

A Saturday to Celebrate

WOW what a day yesterday was for my daughter and I . Here in Central Bucks school district the 5 middle schools participate in a Relay for Life walk from 9 am to 10 pm. The students raised over $240,000 for the American Cancer Society this year which is the #1 youth rally in Pa. We walked a ton yesterday and my feet are killing today but I can't tell you how wonderful it was to see over 2,000 student and 1,000 parents all celebrating and honor Cancer victims and surviors. In a few days the website will be updated and pictures of the event will be posted. So if anyone is interested go to www.cbsd.org

Working on school work and doing laundry and yes sitting down today!!!
